The word "Truthster" does indeed have a common use and clear meaning, just as you described. I think it is kind of archaic in the sense its a saying that's often used by older Americans.

Thanks for your reply. I find it interesting that it does not appear in my Webster's collegiate dictionary. I guess the decision must have been made that it is so out of use that it's no longer considered an official word. That's too bad. I think it's a good word. We could certainly use more "Truthsters" these days.
