Another Month, Another Challenge (#amac)

The daily new location challenge: Week 1

Here it is: my first entry. In the last months I was pretty fascinated by TED talkers and other inspirational people, that do unusual things and were surprised how much fun they had and how good they felt after it. I wanted to try this too and I had some ideas that will be useful for my whole life like talking to a new person every day, or give up something for a month, maybe just workout everyday or take a daily picture of something. Here are some nice ideas, what you can do. If you are also satified by this idea for a more exciting life, then I challenge you to do a challenge for a month too with the Tag #amac (another month, another challenge) and write about your experience and your personal profit.
Even though one month is long and those challenges can be time consuming it is important you really do it for more than a week. At the moment I just have finished the first week and it would be nice to just finish it now, but that would be no challenge and I think that it will be more of a life experience if I continue.

1st Day (Monday, 09th April 2018)

The first day of this challenge I was not completely sure, if my inner me just likes to tell stories, or if I really want to do some new exciting (how exciting it could be to just get your ass up and do random stuff!?) free time project, but as soon as one of my skate dudes called me to join him on a little skate session, I saw that as a perfect oppurtunity for starting this challenge, which I thought about some time earlier.
So I ended up skating with a homie through my district in Vienna exploring some new areas.
It was one of the first warm-ish sunny days in Vienna so we totally enjoyed to ride around.

A pretty good place to store my longboard fetish:
Meanwhile I collected a - in my opinion - shit ton of longboards after 5 years.
I started because I was really fascinated of an Austrian longboard talent called Nicola Nührig. He hosted a longboard workshop in the Arena Wien, an old slaughterhouse, which should have been demolished in the 70s, but was occupied by young punks because they wanted to have a youth center and the building was really nice. So more than 30 years after that plenty of artists already have seen the stages in the area, from electronic to punk. Pretty random that this was the place where my heart was directed towards longboarding.
Since then I got really into it and started to advance in all that different styles and disciplines like longboard dancing, freeride, downhill or freestyle. A guy from my home town near Vienna started his little longboard factory, named Kodama Longboards, and as we made a little arragement I started to advertise for him and had the chance to develop a completely unique signature-model with his help.
There is so much you can change, from the shape to the materials, but the 5th try was kind of solid. We did it! It was exactly what I expected for a perfect allrounder longboard.

So, here it is..
Isn’t it the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?
..
That would really suck if it would be - huh?
But it really is one of the coolest things I ever did!
..
Boring?
Fluff you

2nd Day (Tuesday, 10th April 2018)

Now, that you have proven that you can stand my longboard fascination you crystallized to a reader, who can read the funny part of the blog!
Just Joking.

What a surprise! I am still not used to this challenge, so I procrastinated a little bit.
The whole day I sat at a student area in the university, called FET, which I got really into at the beginning of the year. Since then, I spent reeeaally much time here to study and also just have fun with the other guys and girls around here.

Nonetheless I convinced my girl, Gala, and a fellow student, K (actually his nickname), in the evening to join me on a little adventure to a bar, Xeno, I was not familiar with, but it was not far away. On the Webpage it says that it is a “popular meeting point for artists and night people since 1984”. Actually there were just some guys playing table soccer and one old man who seemed to have a really fucked up day - he paid for 10 whiskey drinks. I was not really recognizing a lot of art. I just remember this one huge plastic baggy on the wall, which could be filled with like a ton of marijuana.

We drank a beer and talked about personal challenges. Gala recently was really fascinated by the art of longboarding (little inspirational me) and she challenged herself to learn doing an Ollie with a skateboard or longboard hybrid in 30 days. Let’s see…

3rd Day (Wednesday, 11th April 2018)

I had so many great ideas what I can do as activities for the challenge, but slowly my ideas seem to be stupid because I just have restaurants and bars in mind, which I could visit, but on the first hand I want to use this challenge to do all sorts of things like check out a new motorcycle or wandering tour, visit Vienna’s silent and secret locations or climb on some buildings and have a snack up on it. Surely I also want to check out new clubs in Vienna, but that’s some weekend stuff.
So my lame ass decided to just visit a burrito restaurant, Gorilla Kitchen. It is located in the area of my university and at least I wanted to eat there for a long time. I loved the food. Mexican food rules da shit out of it. I ate a freakin awesome burrito with chard and a spicy habanero lime sauce.
After that I went home and layed down.

4th Day (Thursday, 12th April 2018)

Getting into it. I knew that I have to do something cool today otherwise this text would just be a food blog. Sure, food is awesome, but that’s some stuff for another time. (BTW The only thing that is better than food is free food, WORD).
I researched for some nice activities in Vienna and I came across this page,
1000things to do in Vienna. My research work for the rest of the challenge is done!
So I got some nice ideas what I could do: In the center of the city at the Burggarten, a really beautiful park with chilling young people, there is this green house, which contains a hell lot of butterflies, the so called Schmetterlingshaus (“butterfly house”). So I invited Max and we went there together. I did not think that I will like it so much like I did. It was a completely other climate for the butterflies and they did a really good job designing the interior nature. There was a huge wood trunk containing corkscrew stairs and a little plattform on top with a nice view over the plants.

Please go there

There were butterflies flying everywhere. It was food time so they chilled on some bananas and apples and stuck their little mouth tubes in that shit.

Subsequently I had a random motor bike tour with a friend because the weather was freaking awesome and visited the Sophienalpe. After we returned home it began to rain. Perfect timing!

5th Day (Friday, 13th April 2018)

Daaammmnn, Friday, the 13th. Today I just chilled at home because I was afraid to die.

5th Day (Friday, 13th April 2018)

Okokok. I found an incredibly comfortable corner under my desk. That, my dear, was some swiggedy good stuff.

5th Day (Friday, 13th April 2018)

Repeating the day until I find the truth. Like in 50 first days. Oh, I mean I don’t know this movie. Dumb silly girl things..
In fact I was a little bit confused about the weekend events and it turned out that everything is on Friday. Damn. But hey, you can’t do anything - guess where you also can’t do anything: At the Long Night Of Research (what a transition) are a fluffin lot of stations in all kinds of areas, institutions or just on the street in the inner districts and you can just visit universities, museum or research facilities, talk to people and everything is for free! Among other things I visited the world museum and the Austrian Computer Society (ÖCG), which was organized really cool. After stabilizing my nerdy personality I could have gone to a party and socialize with people, but my little power nap turned out to be a high performance power nappy nap.

6th Day (Saturday, 14th April 2018)

I just have realized what a great party I missed. Aaaaayyyy, what ever..

The weather was great for longboarding at the Donauinsel. It is a little, but long island in the center of the Danube, the river flowing through Vienna.
After that Luisa invited me to Nelke, a café at the Volkertmarkt, which celebrated the 5th birthday and every drink was for free until 8pm. I arrived at 8:15. Awesome.
Nonetheless I had a cool evening dancing with a funny group of friends, but some people enjoyed the free drinks too much and sometimes disappeared in the backyard to have a good time kissing the floor.

7th Day (Sunday, 15th April 2018)

What? The first week passed by already and it was brilliant! I really can recommend that challenge to everybody. You see so many new things and believe me, there are plenty of it in your nearest environment. For example on that Sunday I just chilled (the only thing that was missing is .. yap .. pizza). Recognizing that it is hard to go to a new location every day, but I have a wonderful girlfriend, who accompanied me for a little walk to a marvellous church in the neighborhood (a room mate recommended it).
So we went on a beautiful night walk through the district and I was really confused that I never passed by on the street, although I always go strange ways with my longboard to explore new things. We discovered a big park, the ORF radio house and a theater (akzent) on the way and ultimately we ended up sitting and at the church on a bank and having a fun talk.

I know. I just had my phone with me..

That's me btw

Did I really say that I will do this for 4 weeks. It would be no problem, but somehow I can’t manage to write on this and do the challenge plus managing my university things and also I became a little ill, but I will give my best to not disappoint myself and the whole humankind.

I am new to Steemit and this is my first post, soit would be really helpful if you have any tips or feedback for me. Please help me share this challenge with the steemit world and upvote if you liked it!
