How to Encode Video to HEVC X265 (More Efficient) with Handbrake

I'd like to share about how to encode video to HEVC x265.
What is HEVC? HEVC stands for High Efficiency Video Coding. It means it use blu-ray best compression method. This is the successor of Advanced Video Coding or called as AVC, the one compression code which is used by blu-ray. HEVC (h265) gives more efficient compared to AVC (h264). It reduces the data or mean less data inside, but with the same quality. So, the size of file is certainly smaller.

Now, I will start to tell about things to do.
Step 1
Run Handbrake program which can be downloaded at here and open the source file. Choose single file, if you want to encode only one or if you want to encode bulk files, choose folders.

Step 2
Set your picture settings tab like this.
Keep aspect ratio means you just keep the aspect ratio that won't make your video not fit to compress. Anamorphic none means resize video to square pixels before encoding instead of getting the player to do it on playback. The output of the reso will be the same. Benefit of this method is not all players will obey the anamorphic setting in mp4 files. So, they won't display them correctly.
Modulus just keep default.

Step 3
Filters decomb means decomb for any interlaced video like DVD or some deblocks for bad anime/cartoon video quality.

Step 4
At the video tab, I just set like this, the codec is h265 as we want the high efficiency, then the bitrate is about 800kbps. It's the average number of encoded movies that run well with high enough quality. So, if you set above it, it will be better especially for Full HD or 4K quality. You better set above 2K kbps.
For 2-pass encoding, I choose because it's better than 1-pass. Why? Because it will analyze in the first pass and intermediate file will be created, then the encoder allocates the bits in the second pass, which the actual encoding takes.

Step 5
Now for audio. Why I just choose AAC stereo with 128kbps ? It's more than enough. If your source is from high quality audio, try to set to 256kbps, because some songs provider such as iTunes use their standard m4a file like that and it's pretty good.

Step 6
If you've done set all, don't forget to set your destination of video converted, then click start to begin encoding.

This is the final result

You can look the difference from the size between two files.
The one with AVC (h264) is 2.6MB whereas the one with HEVC (h265) is 1.2MB only, but with the same quality.
