Betel leaf, a popular chewing item in South Asian countries

Have you tested betel leaf earlier? It’s locally known as Paan. It’s a favorite chewing item for the South Asian region people. People take only the leaf for chewing or mixing with various spices to increase the taste of it. After chewing, It forms radish color.

Today I captured some pictures from a Paan seller. Sharing with you all-

There are some health benefits of taking Paan. It increases the digestion system. It also increases the taste of your mouth which increases the hunger. If you are suffering from stomach pain, it will also give you some relief.

Paan have some side effects also when people take direct tobacco with it. After long time taking it creates mouth and throat cancer.

Paan has many variations. Slaked lime (chunnam) paste is commonly added to bind the leaves. Some South Asian preparations include katha paste or mukhwas to freshen the breath.
