A small oasis next to Oslo business area (Skøyen)

in #norway7 years ago (edited)

Oslo is know to be a city with a lot of nature and open recreation areas, paths, parks etc. Nevertheless it is always surprising to discover small secret pathways and nature locations next to the heart of corporate Oslo. The area of Skøyen (ske-ien) is the base of many local and international firms.Just two blocks from there one can find a beautiful waterfall called ''Dronningens fossen-The Queens waterfall''

For instruction on how to arrive to the waterfall from Skøyen train station see here.According to Google maps it takes around ten minutes to walk there from the station.

The waterfall. It is not visible from the road.I tried to mark it as best as i could on Google maps.

Climbing down carefully and following the path to the right will lead to a small pond which is actually an old farm damn, not in use.It is beautiful, especially with good weather.

During the summer months it is easy to step on some stones and cross the little creek, called Hoffselva.

Not a lot of water this time of the year.

The old farm damn, now a charming pond.

Don't forget to say hi to the swan!

If you don't feel tired you can follow the path even further to the next old farm damn, filled with many ducks, swans and little charming islets. You can see it on google maps here.

The pond, further up.

Although it seems like a little pocket of nature on the map there is a lot of exploring to do on the area!
