When you use Blocktrades, verify the address before proceeding
So I had a little bit of extra SBD. I thought it might be a good idea to power up after reading this article by @tarazkp. After reading his article, it became clear that even with a lopsided exchange rate between SBD and Steem it's still a good long term deal to powerup.
A simple way to powerup then is to use @Blocktrades to trade SBD to Steem Power, and there is no waiting to boot. So after making the trade, I went to my account and waited. And waited. Hmm. Normally, Steem transactions are really fast.
After waiting a few more minutes I went back to Blocktrades to check my transaction history.
Oh, boy. I sent it to the wrong account, @digital:
Too bad @digital is not active, and has only 2 posts to his or her name. Yet another abandoned account. We don't know why it was abandoned, but my inadvertent donation is now lost at sea. Rats. Every time I see abandoned accounts, I think about what could have been done with consistent effort over time.
After reflecting on my mistake, I sent another 10 SBD to power up on Blocktrades. For awhile there, I was using SBD from big whale votes to buy bidbot votes, but that required a lot of extra effort. I just want to write, post and see what happens.
I've sent an email to Blocktrades to see if I can get this reversed. Probably not, but I think it's worth a try. If it works out, great. If not, lesson learned.
Anyway, whatever method you use to transfer anything, if Chrome your browser offers an autofill option, be sure to check that you're sending to the right account, even if the account was verified as it was on Blocktrades for me.

Hey buddy, sorry to hear about that. The lesson is to always double check everything, and then check again to make sure.
I have just (on the internal market) bought 10 SBD of Steem and transferred the 7 SP to you. Hopefully in the future it will be worth a lot more than now.
I don't think @blocktrades can reverse it but even if they can, power that up too. =)
Have a great day.
Thank you so much for your help, @tarazkp. And your article has helped me gather determination to err on the side of powering up when SBD comes in.
I will have to experiment with powering up on the internal market and Blocktrades to see which one works better.
Be well.
I did a little bit of research and found that I can save a bit of money by using the internal exchange:

So I think that Blocktrades works well when you want to trade STEEM and SBD for currencies foreign to the Steemit blockchain. If you want to power up, transaction costs are lower on the internal exchange.
