Open-faced Peach Pie
This pie is a much loved family tradition during fresh peach season. When you try this recipe, you will understand why.
It is an old Mennonite recipe and it's easy and delicious. Here's how you do it:
Peach Pie Recipe:
Peel and cut in half fresh peaches (clingstone are best)
Place with cut side up in 9 inch pie shell
Combine and drizzle the following:
1 egg or two egg yolks
2 to flour
2/3 to 1 cup white sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
Bake 15 min @ 400 degrees
Reduce to 300 degrees and bake for 50 minutes more or until filling is set. Serve hot with ice cream or cold. My family thinks it tastes best the next day after a night in the fridge. Enjoy!
Ooooh warm peach pie with ice cream is such a treat!
sure is @neverdecaf We have to restrict ourselves to fresh peach season or we'd be eating this all the time! Thank you for the response.
