Roman amphitheater theater Roman is located in the eastern part of the Jordanian capital Amman , specifically at the foot of Mount Joufeh on a hill opposite the Amman Citadel . A Greek inscription on a pillar indicates that this amphitheater was built in honor of Emperor Madrianus, who visited Oman in 130 AD . It is located next to the Place de la Formation, with a total area of 7,600 m 2, probably dating back to the 2nd century CE, between 138 and 161 AD during the reign of Tsar Antonios Pius .

Use the Roman amphitheater for theater and lyrical performances . Due to the quality of its sound system, it is sometimes used today for technical performances. The theater has 6,000 spectators, which is larger than the southern theater in Jerash , which can accommodate 4,000 to 5,000 spectators.

The Roman Amphitheater in Amman.
Is still the largest theater in Jordan . In front of the theater, which is dominated by artists, there is a certain place in the center of the theater that spectators can hear the sound of it in a clear way in all theaters. The stands are divided into 44 classes, in three main groups. The first row was used for the elite and the VIPs, while the second and third groups were reserved for the rest of the population.

There are rooms behind the stage, used by artists to change their clothes and prepare to appear in public. The height of the original theater platform was about three floors, higher than the columns in the Form Square. There was a small temple at the top of the theater , carved in rock , with statues of the Roman goddesses .

There are two small museums today on both sides of the stage, the Museum of Popular Life and the Folk Fashion Museum. The first is the evolution of the lives of Jordanians and their use of tools and furniture over the past century, especially rural and nomadic life. The second museum deals with Jordanian and Palestinian traditional fashion and jewelery and adornment techniques used by women.
