Poor waste management in the city of Bemanda
Hygiene in simple words is cleanliness which in this case is a bit limited because we focus mostly on personal hygiene forgetting to check on our environment too.Sanitation on the other hand is providing a healthy living environment for everyone by maintaining hygienic conditions (managing garbage collection, waste water disposal and body cleanliness)
A dirty environment affect the health of all persons living there. Many will say I always keep my home and surrounding clean meanwhile we move the trash from home to the roadside increasing the risk of an infection to all inhabitants. Microorganisms are friends to waste which they are enemies to humans because of the infection they cause. The amount of persons sick of typhoid fever and gastric cause by Hilocobacter pylori which is the bacteria that causes gastric is very high in Bamenda also we have high rates of food poisoning all cause by our actions of trashing our waste everywhere along the streets.
Due to the crisis the city is facing right now it’s difficult for authorities in charge of waste management to do their work but which doesn’t limit us to do it by managing our waste ourself so as to have a better health environment.
Personal hygiene
As it’s said charity begins at home we cannot talk about hygiene and sanitation without touching personal hygiene which deals with how we take care of every part of the body and what we put on as cloths . There is nothing new about this because even if we don’t maintain the conditions for hygiene at least we all bath our body but for a better health living environment we need to start see how to put all into action that washing of hands , washing of our dresses and under-wears etc
environmental hygiene
There is no way we can achieve this if we don’t think out of the box to see how we can manage waste in our town . Since the authorities are not playing their part I think going back to the old methods that where first used for waste management will be the best each an everyone should be responsible for his or her trash . We not in a developed country where we can rely on incinerator plants for trash management and it’s very costly to set up one but but we can do it locally for example set a a small system to burn waste and that will reduce pollution or we rather look for this big metallic containers we have around place them behind your home and start burn waste that can not decompose in it
Another way to manage this is to start using and but stuffs that can be recycled that is buy things that can be reused or transfer in to other things that are useful
Sorting of waste into various categories will be of great like domestic waste that can decompose which can be used in farms , gardens or even set up a biogas plant to generate cook gas at your home with your own waste
At first the use of dumping pits where very common which was good but now we don’t have them again going back to start using them will help a lot
Water waste is also a big challenge with us the road side water channels are all block with waste ,but if we built them in such a way that we use something like a metal net to trap anything apart from water it will be best also a continuous flow of water in this channels will help flush anything that stands there.we have rivers around which can be connected there to give our a continuous flow of water and it the channels clean.

Very teachable, it is said even cleanliness leads to godliness, thanks for sharing
It's really terrible with the way waste products are managed in Cameroon, I pray government look into this as fast as possible because the situation Is going worst everyday
That's really true my brother Bamenda is becoming nasty everyday and I really check on what we can do about too. Just that is a difficult task because many are not lovers if environment because if they are they will not disposed any where which confirms the fact that charity begins at homes thanks for sharing
We really hope for the implimentation of these mitigations
You have spoken well bro. It's really a disaster in Bamenda that in 2021, waste management is still a problem. Let's just pray that the stake holders take effective actions before a bad situation turns worst.
