Photo of the day: A way to maintain consistent posting on Steemit

in #photography7 years ago

Hey Steemians, I'm back again! So I thought I would start a new quick post series here on Steemit to maintain some posting consistency, ie. making at least one Steemit post per day. Truth be told I'm terrible at all forms of social media, but there is something about Steemit that just keeps drawing me back again, it's something that I truly enjoy. Maybe it's the incentive of rewards, maybe it's the excitement of not knowing what the future holds here, heck, maybe it's just that it isn't facebook. Whatever it is I know that one of the main keys to being successful and building a following is to post consistently, daily in fact. So without further ado, here begins my (probably fourth or fifth attempt at) starting a daily post series: Dexter's photo of the day.

This photo was actually one from a set of sneak peeks we just sent out to a client. It is from their intimate elopement on top of a mountain on the island of Mallorca. To get this shot Sabrina and I spent the entire day beforehand driving around the entire island, hiking up random trails and mountains and searching our little hearts out to find a spot that was A) Secluded B) Beautiful and C) Had a great view of the sunset.

It took literally hours but we managed to find just the spot for our couple, and the photos ended up being epic (at least we think so, and so do they!)

As another feature of this daily project, I'll be doing my best to post the Equipment, settings and editing info for these shots below them for all the photographers out there who may be interested.

This photo was taken with a Nikon D3S camera at ISO 400, 1/320 shutter speed and f1.4 The lens was a Sigma 24mm f1.4 ART. The photo was edited using Adobe Lightroom 5. For the base color tones and contrast etc. I used one of the presets made by my friend Don Bringas, an incredibly talented photographer based out of the Canary Islands. Everything about the preset was modified except for the HSL color settings. WB adjusted, exposure increased slightly, highlights dimmed and shadows increased, contrast reduced, clarity increased, vibrance reduced and saturation increased, tone curve adjusted, tweaks to split toning, sharpening increased and grain removed.

That's it for today Steemians, hope you enjoy my new quick shot posts, and if you do feel free to toss me one of those sweet sweet up votes, and leave me a comment too, you know I always appreciate them! Be sure to follow me @dexter-k on Steemit to keep up with our adventures around the world, and to see new original content up all the time.

Thanks for reading!

@dexter-k Incredible tones using the Sigma 24mm! Love that lens. It's good to see more photography on this platform.

Thanks so much @powelluke, you've got some great work on your profile as well! I really love that lens, it's less than half the price of the Nikkor 24mm f1.4 and I honestly really prefer the color tones of the Sigma. It's an incredible piece of engineering for the price.

Beautiful :):):)
its simply wow..
awesome photography..!!

Thanks so much @ramyar, glad you like it!

The fact that the couple's skin and attire is squeaky clean tells me they didn't hike there lol..though maybe they changed.....now I'm thinking like Sherlock. Way to get the work done!

Good eye @steemmate! We did sortof hike to get there, and they did change as well. By sortof I mean there is a dirt walking path up the mountain that takes about a half hour to walk up to where we were. Thanks for the upvote and comment!

Amazing picture... You captured the love they feel for each other. Mallorca looks magnificent.

Thank you @bek, we try to capture that for all of our couples so I'm glad it's showing through in the photo. Mallorca was indeed magnificent, you should check it out if you ever get the chance, it is an incredible island.
