Verrès Carnival 2020

Come with me to the historic Carnival of Verrès! Yesterday I went to watch it, finding a nice atmosphere surrounded by the parade accompanied by music and dancing with masks and medieval costumes together with beautiful horses.
Manifestation born in 1450 almost by accident, when the lady of the village came down with her husband from their castle, which is located on a rocky area above, down to the village for the first time in history. People began to celebrate that event and the tradition was handed down every year until today.
There has not been much people as usual, during the past years the village has always been invaded by thousands of tourists and enthusiasts, some of whom are preparing for this event for a good part of the year.
Probably this low participation is also due to the alarmism regarding the Corona Virus that has spread in northern Italy, considering the fact that the Aosta Valley is not very far from the areas where the contagion has been found and the spectators usually came from different parts of the country.

Venite con me ad assistere al Carnevale storico di Verrès! Ieri sono stato a vederlo, trovando un ambiente gioviale contornato dalla sfilata accompagnata da musica e balli con maschere ed abiti medievali assieme a dei bellissimi cavalli.
Manifestazione nata nel 1450 quasi per caso, quando la signora del paese scese assieme al marito dal proprio castello, che si trova su una zona rocciosa sovrastante, fin giù in paese per la prima volta nella storia. La gente iniziò a festeggiare quell'evento e la tradizione fu tramandata di anno in anno fino ad oggi.
Non c'è stata molta affluenza di pubblico rispetto al solito, durante gli scorsi anni il paese è sempre stato invaso da migliaia di turisti e appassionati, alcuni dei quali si preparano a questo evento per buona parte dell'anno.
Molto probabilmente questa scarsa partecipazione è dovuta anche all'allarmismo riguardante il Corona Virus che si è propagato nell'Italia settentrionale, considerato il fatto che la Valle d'Aosta non è molto distante dalle aree dove il contagio è stato maggiormente riscontrato e gli spettatori solitamente arrivavano da diverse zone della nazione.
