San Gimignano

San Gimignano is an Italian town located close to Siena City, in Tuscany, with about 8.000 inhabitants. Was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to his medieval architecture characteristic inside the historic center. Despite some restorations during 19-20th century, its structures from 12-13th century they are very well preserved and is one of the best examples of urban organization of Medieval commune in Europe.

I found out about it thanks to "Assassin's Creed" videogame, which this town was part of the locations where was set.
When the second chapter of the game came out, it was given to me as present by some friends of mine, the same ones who were on vacation with me until the previous week, at the time we made of that game a cult, it was the fourth time I visited it, every time I liked it as if it were the first one, I discovered different facets every time, even though its center is quite small.

All the hours I spent playing made me dream of climbing those walls, running on the roofs and throwing myself down from the buildings in an angelic way, naturally with a big wagon loaded with hay waiting for me.

And so, every time that I come back in Tuscany, always with a different company, it became almost an obligatory stop for me, to relive the same "live" scenarios from the game, which is quite more exciting than it!

Up & down, narrow alleys, bars, restaurants, shops, museums, towers, churches and breathtaking landscapes, all within the old walls dating back to the 13th century.

Of course, a bit of action was lacking, Ezio Auditore, videogame saga's hero, was able to give a lot of pepper to the setting. Too bad that in these days there was a bit of mist, which did not allow us to see the horizon entirely.

A pleasure to come back to, a place where I would deeply appreciate to move, so many tourists visit it every year, the classic place that seems to come straight out of a medieval fantasy tale.

Unlike the last few times I took some photographs that I hope will succeed in doing justice to an exceptional location.
