Do people really choose Bitcoin over other cryptocurrencies?
Those who are in the IT field and who are familiar with cryptocurrencies would say yes and no.
Yes because the lay person who has very little understanding of cryptocurrencies would, of course, choose Bitcoin over other cryptocurrencies. He does so because Bitcoin dominates a large part of the discussion on cryptocurrencies in the news. Likewise, the institutional investors and financial consultants talk of only Bitcoin because they are managing people's fund and by nature they are always extra cautious with their investments.
But if you ask blockchain and cryptocurrency experts, you will find many who have chosen cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin and there are may among them who do not hold any Bitcoin at all.
