WHEN WE FALL IN LOVE

Today being the 14th day of February, the day in which we celebrate love worldwide, I have decided to write about this emotion/concept called love.

Love exists in different forms. There's the love between parents and their children, love between a man and a woman, love between friends, love for a particular art, love for a particular food and so on. This article will focus on love between a man and a woman.

When we fall in love with someone of the opposite sex, we undergo a lot of changes psychologically. Below is a list of common tells when you are in love
How to know if you're in love

1. You smile at someone's words even when they are obviously not funny.
2. The sight of that one person makes you smile for no apparent reason.
3. You constantly use that someone as a yardstick to judge other people.
4. You get carried away in a good way when you're thinking about that one person.
5. You are so emotionally disturbed when you have an argument with that particular person that you are incapable of carrying out simple routine tasks.
6. You are extremely jealous in a personal way when you see that person with another person.
7. You constantly want to be in that person's company even when there's no reason at all for that.
8. You forget about everyone and everything in your immediate environment when you're with that person.
9. That person becomes your greatness weakness.

The issue with love is this, it can become a negative thing, especially in cases where it is one-sided. People react differently to love. For some people, when love is one-sided, they just give up and let it go. For others, they become bitter and might even go as far as hurting that person whom they claim to love and others who have affiliations with such a person. Some try to blackmail those they claim to love into loving them back.

How to be a good lover

1. Know that falling in love is one thing, staying in love is another.
2. Love has to come from both sides. You can't force someone to love you just because you love the person.
3. Love cannot be bought with money.
4. Love is like a fire, you have to feed it constantly to keep it alive.
5. Learn the art of subtle coercion. Military type relationships don't usually work out.
6. See your lover as your equal partner and not someone beneath you.
7. Listen to what the other party has to say every time.
8. You cannot be right every time. Learn to give in when necessary.
9. Constantly remind your partner of your love both by words and by actions.
10. Plan together with your partner for a bright future.
11. Most importantly, help each other grow and to become better persons in all possible ways. That is the major essence of relationships.
