THE CHRISTIAN AND THE WORLD

Up till now we have studied the ways in which our love for God should translate itself into practical living. After having spoken about our relationship with our fellow man and our attitude towards materials things, it remains for us to see what the Bible says about community life and the Christians and the whole world, the Christian and the state and the Christian and the local Church.

What is the world?

This occurs very often in the Bible, and we need to understand it. It has several different meanings. We will consider the two most important ones.

God's creation

The prophet Jeremiah declared, 'He.... established the world by His wisdom' _(Jeremiah 10: 12)_. This text and many others concern God's creation. God Himself found it very good _(Genesis 1 : 31)_. It suffered because of sin _( Romans 8: 20-22)_, but it is still subject to the laws appointed by God _(Psalm 148 : 6-8)_. The Christian's calling in the world as created by God, was clearly expressed at the moment of creation: ' And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. And God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it " _(Genesis 1: 27-28)_. The text reminds us of the biblical basis for the family, but it also establishes the commission given to man to subdue the earth. 'Subdue' means to bring something under control. With the intelligence which God has given him, man must try to understand the laws of creation (science) and to master the forces of nature (technology). The Christian who is faithful to this calling glorifies his creator. That is why work and study should not be despised by the Christian, but carried out conscientiously for the glory of God.

There you are @desmond41. I love this part that "work and study should not be despised..." Until we become receptive to all knowledge and testing it but placing judgment, we will always miss the underlying principle and the truth behind such knowledge. Thanks for sharing.

All you have said is true, if we can take a different look at the things which Christianity need to change, it should all that is not found in the manual which is the Bible. upvoted and following you, you can follow me @xtophercruzeu thanks
