This week's Music Tuesday has us going back to Model M - though I'll take a break from my music video barrage and just share my favourite album which my husband Terrence created. I had a lot of input in this one, too, from guitar playing to singing and a lot of ideas.

Nina Notes:
Standing at full length album number 5 as Model M, this was one of his most successful albums, and the second one on which I worked with Terrence.
The song War can actually be heard in the var brawl scene of the movie "Supercollider", and we got one of the best reviews ever from the local newspaper in Vancouver when we released it!
The album cover was designed by yours truly - and I can be heard singing/screaming on Mindflow, Power, Here We Come, In My Mind It's not Safe to Be, The Opera, Year of the Rabbit. I play guitar and bass on Mindflow, Power, Out There, Year of the Rabbit, and I wrote the final song The Eagle. Basically my grimy handprints are all over this one, lol! But we had a lot of fun with it, and made some pretty crazy videos which I'll share next week.

What do you want - When not going hardcore, reminds me a bit of Muse, with some like early to mid 90s rock. Don't know enough about harder rock to be able to pin that part of the music to. Such a classic voice
War- Immediately loved that shredded synth come in at the beginning. It immediately grabbed my attention. The music is kick ass, god, so good. Wish the vocals in the verses had a bit more reverb on em, could have really made it a spacey hardcore bad ass thing. As it is, it's amazing for sure, so, no hate, just in my head, lol.
Power - The drum loop really sucked me in. I'm a hip hop head, so this was pretty hip hopish at the start. Wow man, so what this song is doing to me is insane. The colors are amazing on this. The engineering, everything so on point. That guitar right after the second chorus, wow. Crazy. Then into that whole chorus thing?? ARE YOU SERIOUS?? This is so good. WOW. The layers, the intricacies, this is a masterpiece.
I bought the album because of this one here. Wish I could've paid more! I've got it playing now and will listen to it all. You and your husband are both extremely talented. Can't wait to see you get huge!
aw man you are awesome!! Thank you for the nice comments!! Terrence will certainly appreciate them, especially the production and engineering notes - we do all this in our living room and he does all the mixing! I take full responsibility for the "choir" and guitars on Power, though ;) (that entire choir is like 10 tracks of me, lol! I gave him a challenge...)
His big influences are oldschool dub, drum and bass, and some pretty heavy industrial - all of which are sample-based and emerged with with same roots as hip hop, so it's actually not as far of a stretch as one would think in terms of sounding similar. ...but the fact that this isn't really your "genre" and you liked it enough to buy it really says a lot and definitely made our day!! :3 :3
Yea when the choir came in, it was over for me, just like "here, please take my money". I love all different types of music. If it is talent, I enjoy it, especially with music. I don't talk about this often, but I have chromesthesia, which is basically I see colors from sound. It's less about the music for me and more about the colors. Of course, there are some genres that I generally can't handle, because there is either too much sensory overload, or too little.
Edit I just wanted to be clear when I said "it's less about the music" doesn't mean that I don't absolutely love your music. Colors can come from just crazy sounds, which is some of the stuff I make, just like experimental weird sounds that really give me some good colors, but when those colors come from really well made music, it's so much nicer, lol.
Anyway, truly love both of your music, and you have become one of the first things I click on if I see it in my feed!

Power is very vivid, and just bursting with color. It's really hard to put it into words. Sometimes the colors are really muted and just sort of swirling about, other times it can be very vivid with designs and fluorescent colors just coming from everywhere... That's how Power is. It is so controlled, and so beautiful. Like an ocean coming from either side, 2 separate waves, with quite literally a sea of colors. Hence, why I bought the album! Was/is amazing and can't wait to hear more of his music, and yours as well!
