Hi, I'm Dernier.

My name is Hasby Dernier Díaz Colina, I live in the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela. I am 34 years old; I am a Social Communicator, Radio Producer, Announcer, Technical Operator, Publisher and Musician. I'm passionate about radio in general. I invite you to know a little more about my life in the following lines.

Yes, I have quite a few names, whose origin goes back to my father's fondness for Major League Baseball. For those who do not know my names are actually American names: Hasby, is in honor of the catcher of Cleveland Indians and Houston Astros, Alan Ashby. And Dernier, pays tribute to center fielder of the Chicago Cubs, Bob Dernier.

I was born in the city of Maracaibo, Zulia State, I attended the primary and secondary school, I was always a child very applied in my studies with a lot of desire to arise and prepare professionally, I always liked everything related to education, I naturally gave tutorials to my classmates when they did not understand any point of a certain subject.

But although on the one hand it was helpful for a group of my classmates, for others it was a source of ridicule and abuse. In my time there was no word bullying, but I do recognize that I was a victim of bullying during a large part of my school life. What was natural to me, my thin build, good values and being excellent in my classes, for others was cause for envy and anger, and as teachers usually do not know how to deal with these cases or ignore them, I paid the consequences. Every week it was fixed that I had to go to the address or section because someone was bothering me or looking for a fight. My childhood and adolescence were not at all simple.

Then, the years passed, and when I was about to leave high school, it was common to fill out a form to introduce the careers that the student wanted to take, but when the time came for me the education took a back seat and appeared in me an interest in Social Communication. I honestly did not know if this career was going to be my profession for life, but I took a risk in the last years of high school it was a habit that at least two hours a day I listened to the different radio stations in my city. At that time they were popular: Zuliana 102, Metropolis, Fabulous, Ok 101 and the Mega. A little diversified my musical tastes and this is reflected in the stations that I liked. Months passed, I graduated and while waiting for the date of admission to the university I started working with my father in maintenance work at the Enelven sports complex, located in the South of the city.

I was excited because I would begin a new stage in my life, but what I did not know was that this new beginning was not as simple as I imagined. To start my first day of classes, a Monday at 7 in the morning, I remember that I had a Venezuelan way of life with Professor Ana Guarecuco and I could not enter the class because I arrived 15 minutes late. The truth was that the dynamics were new for me and I suddenly learned that I was no longer the child who was entering or arriving late to classes, now I was an adult and had to assume the rights and responsibilities of my house of study, the University of Zulia.

With the passing of the semester I honestly felt that this career was not my thing, because I had to spend hours reading books that made me very sleepy, I did not understand the classes although I did my best, I had some teachers who did not inspire anyone and when I was for changing my career to study something that I liked I had my first approach to the radio thanks to a work of Professional Practice I. There I realized that the race I liked, what I did not like we’re the theoretical subjects, and if I show them my grades will see that it was better in practice than the theoretical.

My years of university I combined them with jobs in the pharmaceutical sector, without thinking I had faculties as a pharmacy assistant and I was easy to know the components of any medicine and its variations in the market. It was not easy, sometimes working 16 hours in a row and then going to classes, then returning to the pharmacy, but from that I learned that everything needs sacrifice and commitment. At that stage of my life I was the only one who worked in my home and therefore my effort was necessary for the family welfare.

Obviously so much work I spend bill in the studios and a career that is usually done in 5 years, I culminate in 6. When I finally decided to finish at once for the entire race I found that all my classmates had already graduated and were working in the middle that’s when the radio came back to my life as an internship.

In October 2005 I arrived at the University of Zulia radio station, the one that today is LUZ Radio 102.9 and that for the most faithful will remain LUZFM all their lives. There, as a press intern, but unintentionally and by chance, I got my first opportunity in the middle behind a sound console. Here I learned a bit of everything, things that even remotely taught you in the School of Communication, for example, know that when the transmitter marks you reflected is because of problems in the antenna.

Once I graduated, I had a great paradox in my life. He had to start looking for a job as a journalist, knowing that the labor market as well as demanding and poorly paid was covered; or stay behind the technical control and wait for my chance to ascend. The truth is, they were long years of learning, disappointments, battles and even living in Punto Fijo, looking for job stability. But little by little, achieve the goal and this year 2018 due to the resignation of a great friend @ninoskaromero come to the position of General Producer of the radio.

Sincerely, I have learned many things while there and I really thank God for everything I have lived.

Experiences are what make you grow and be stronger every day, so we must strengthen and have faith, believe in ourselves and have a positive attitude to life despite adversity, because everything is achieved with effort, perseverance and dedication.
