Fast Coffee at the Truck Stop behind the Harz Mountains - Germany
Hello dear connoisseurs,
since my last coffee break two and a half hours ago, I've driven another 200 miles. I have left the German low mountain range behind me. Luckily there was neither snow nor black ice in the Kassel mountains and in the Harz mountains, so I could press the accelerator without stress. If you should ever be on the German highways, then I give you the advice, drive at night. Some time ago I was still driving during the day, but due to the heavy traffic this is not possible now without traffic jams. On the other hand, at night you usually have a free ride.
Now I have arrived in Bockenem near Hildesheim and I am looking forward to the coffee. The tiredness, no wonder, it is now 5:20 a.m., is coming on a little bit. I have already completed two thirds of my journey, Hanover is only a stone's throw away and the Elbe Tunnel in Hamburg will be able to be passed through in one and a half hours without traffic jams.
At the Truckstop in Bockenem you can get the best and cheapest coffee of the whole route. The toilets are clean and they are free to use, which is something you rarely find anymore.
At this motorway service station I also always make a stop when I drive in the other direction to Munich.
So don't be surprised that my fuel gauge is not empty yet, but I really only fill up here because of the good coffee.
The food offer is also very good and varied. The fresh rolls and baguettes are topped with cheese or sausage. If you are lucky, the pretzels just come out of the oven freshly baked and if you like sweets, you can get everything your heart desires here around the clock.
Those who are very hungry are even served curry sausage, meat loaf, burgers and soup stew.
My wife and I prepare our two coffees with sugar and milk. The big coffee really only costs 1,99 € and tastes delicious.
How we would like to drink our coffee here comfortably now. In the summer you can sit outside, at this time of the day it would even be light and the first rays of sunshine would appear.
Today it is cold, dark and we do not have time, so put the lid on the cup and continue the trip.
The tank is full and the gasoline is just enough to get us to Flensburg, but we make another stopover behind Hamburg at the Marché Restaurant Holmoor.
I will tell you what the coffee tastes like there.
