Theremin

The Theremin is one of the oldest electronic musical instruments, invented in 1919 by the Russian Lev Sergeyevich Termen. Consisting of an electronic box with two antennas, the instrument has the distinction of producing music without being touched by the artist. In its most common version, the right side controls the tone of the note, varying its distance from the vertical antenna. The horizontal, loop-shaped antenna is used to vary the volume according to its distance from the left side.
