Uncertain Times? Nose Back to the Grindstone!

in WORLD OF XPILAR4 years ago

Like many, I have been watching the financial markets around the world getting very "nervous" for the past week, and that includes the crypto markets, as well.

Winter has come

I'm not much of a "chart watcher," but when things get like this I particularly want to just back away from the whole thing and instead focus more effort on just the daily business of "making a living," as a self-employed person.

Part of that — sadly — also means acknowledging that in it's current state there's very little hope that my crypto blogging efforts can serve as a "substitute" for a part-time second job... I'm far better off just writing when I can find a moment and just powering up what's there while Steem is cheap.

In the meantime, today I started ramping up my vintage postage stamp business again... wintertime is a good season for "indoor hobbies" like stamp collecting, so I am going to make the most of that, while I can.

On the whole, I think that's what difficult and turbulent times teach us: We need to do our best to make the most of whatever is in front of us. We can dream about things being "different" and tell ourselves that things "should" be different to our heart's content... but we need to deal with life, as it comes to us.

Meanwhile, it's just a couple of months until our annual property tax payment is due... which also means I need to focus on "raising funds" so we can get that paid, and stay in our lovely house for another year.

It still strikes me as silly that you can own a house outright, and still own enough in annual taxes that it is practically like having to make a rent payment!

No wonder a lot of Libertarians say that "Taxation is theft!"

Anyway, thanks for reading, and have a great remainder of your week!

How about YOU? How do you feel about the ongoing financial situation? Do you think we are in another "bear" market? Does the global financial situation affect you, on a personal level? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

I feel you. My property taxes work out to about $500 per month.

Hi, first of all, I really liked the photos, I think I should paint a snowy winter painting :) The birdhouse looks beautiful with the snow as if it were an ornament. The bird must be feeling free as its home is not taxed :D
With the New Year, there are always raises, which we are used to. But this year, we have been exposed to extreme price increases. It is inevitable that these increases will turn into a very tough situation in countries that have high inflation. Let's see what awaits us.
