Some Days are More Difficult Than Others!

Maybe the title of this post "goes without saying," but that doesn't stop me from pondering how two seemingly similar days on which I have similar things I need to accomplish... will turn out so differently.

I slept pretty well last night, I ate normally yesterday and today... and yet I was never able to "achieve liftoff" with anything today!

I had a pretty good sized list of things I wanted to do today... but most of the time, all I was good for was sitting and staring at the rain falling, outside my office window.

Of course, the trouble with having a low energy day is that it's easy for the mind to wander to a negative place where we start "beating ourselves up" because we're not living up to our own expectations.

I certainly didn't live up to my own expectations, today!

In a sense, the day reminded me of something one of my Spiritual Teachers from many years ago would often point out: "part of what makes life interesting is PRECISELY that we can't always predict what's going to happen next, and the same effort won't always yield the same RESULTS."

Although you will often hear me say that I am very oriented towards stability and routine, I also know that living a life of "sameness" is not a realistic expectation... and I am not sure I would really want it, either.

So, today I ended up simply embracing my "slow" day of not getting anything much done... and I have much gratitude for the fact that I don't have a job I have to go to, when I feel like this.
