Is Collective Energy a Real Thing?

in #consciousness6 years ago

I suppose most of us are a repository of different ideas and beliefs... on the whole, I would characterize myself as fairly well "grounded" in something we might call "reality," but at the same time I am hopeful that there is more between Heaven and Earth than immediately meets the eye.

"It Seems" that this year — and this summer, in particular — has been hard on a lot of people.

Not necessarily "hard" in the sense that there is direct hardship and suffering (although that has certainly been part of the picture), but hard in a way I would characterize more as "the summer of slain hope."

Now, I'm open to the possibility that it's human nature to look for patterns that anchor our beliefs, and so I might be noticing a trend I can relate to my personal situation. But I don't think so... because my state of hope for the future is actually pretty good.

I'm not just having hunches, here.

At our little art gallery, no less than eight of about 40 artists we work with have decided to stop "working" with art, and have returned to office, restaurant server and other jobs in the past six months. As compared to three in the previous two years.

A record number of my colleagues who make most of their living from various forms of independent selling on eBay have thrown in the towel this year. For the first time I can remember (and I've been selling on eBay since 1996!) there seems to be a "net migration" OUT of online selling.

In our local town, we seem to be in a period where more shops are closing than opening.

Even here on Steemit, it seems there are a lot of dashed hopes... people who thought they were going to "have an income" here basically giving up on that idea.

I am just making observations here... not trying to have a pity party.

But getting back to the "Collective Energy" thing, why right now? All the economic data and reporting points to a healthy economy.

Some of the people I have talked to who are quitting aren't even doing so for economic reasons; they are doing so because they are plain old tired. And I grok that. I am sitting here, writing this blog post at 11:35pm because it's the first opportunity have had today to "not be running." I feel tired, too. And I am only writing because I am a really determined type... I'd really rather be in bed, right now.

And I am having these musings because it seems like a lot of people seem to have the same idea at the same time. What's up with that?

How about YOU? Do you think people tend to move in the same direction, quite often? Is there some type of "collective energy" that ties us — even if loosely — together? Leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

Carl Jung and I both say yes to collective unconscious and archetypical ramblings. Then again maybe it's mitichlorines, the force, binding is all together so we can fight yet another war sometime in the distant future.

I for one am holding out hope for midichlorians.

You know there is part of me that believes it to be true, if we could only get past the 10%, or get past our so called education. I honestly think we need to unlearn what we have and open ourselves to the possibility. Instead of I can't rather I can, if I only knew how. " All" things are possible to those that love the Lord. I suppose it depends on the definition of all, and limits we place on our self

I thought Jung's work on synchronicity was very interesting, and I do believe there's definitely something to it. Some would argue it's simple coincidence when some of these things happen, but when you repeatedly have events that are ten million-to-one happen, something else has to be involved in the process...

I don’t know about any sort of metaphysical “collective energy”, but “herd mentality” is definitely a thing. The moment the first person throws in the towel, or goes off on a rant, or turns their back on a system, it becomes much easier for a second person to do it, which then makes it much easier for the third... etc.

Glad to see that the good old West Coast mysticism/spiritualism culture is rubbing off on you though 😛

True enough. I have seen some very interesting studies on (for example) how "movements" get their start, and how the most important "player" in starting a movement isn't the original instigator, but the second and third adopter who "make it safe" for everyone else to join some "thing" they would never have become part of unless there were already "several people" involved.

Yeah, I'm knee deep in West Coast Woo-woo around here! I live in a very "metaphysical" town in the middle of a very metaphysical state.

Interesting. Never really thought about people moving in the same direction like so form of collective energy. Could be. I'll have to ponder that.

I know with Steemit a collective group has given up. But a collective group still has Passion and refuses to give up. I count myself in that group :)

Thanks for posting this @denmarkguy ;)

Sometimes it just seems like we experience a series of similar events that are so unlikely that it feels like more than mere coincidence. A bunch of people who don't even know each other decide that "today is the day" to take some action. Even C.G. Jung spent a good deal of time studying the idea of "meaningful coincidences," and how they were tied together.

As for Steemit, I'm part of that same group who believe there's something really good and promising "buried" here.

To the question in your title, my Magic 8-Ball says:

It is certain

I’m becoming more of a believer in it, to a point anyway. To say there is collective energy seems a little off, perhaps, but to say that all the energy that ever was and will be is here, in the universe around us, and that everyone has more or less equal access to it seems right. And then to say that emotions and thoughts (energy essentially) affect the people who not only experience them, but are in proximity to them, well ... that doesn’t seem like a stretch to me.

What is happening in your town?
