Tree Tuesday Do's & Don'ts 🌳👍🚫
My husband @joechiappetta and I love a good deal. And once a month, The Huntington Library & Gardens has a free day. So guess where we went last week 😊😉
If you ever find yourself near Pasadena, California, please take a day to visit the Library, Art Galleries & Gardens. Even if it is not "free day," it is worth it. 💰
On our recent visit, we discovered a sign telling people not to carve anything in the bamboo forest. We thought it was a interesting sign in itself, as it had no words, so it could be "read" by visitors of all nations and languages. People come from all over the world to visit The Huntington, so this is very efficient.
However, it is ironic, because there are very few "Don't" signs at the Huntington. In fact, this is the only one I can recall seeing. The Huntington is a very orderly and well kept facility and people seem to respect it without having to be told to do so. EXCEPT, in this bamboo forest! The place where there is actually a sign telling you NOT to do something. I don't know which appeared first, the illegal carving, or the sign. However, now both seem to be forced into coexistence.
What do you think? Is it just human nature to feel a need to buck authority? 😜 For the record, @joechiappetta and I admired the sign, had a small discussion on our own opinions of human nature and moved on... Without defacing any bamboo. 👍
It was a lovely day in a lovely place.
Happy #TreeTuesday to all! Thanks @old-guy-photos for initiating!
