Human Extinction: Our collective ignorance will kill us.

We live on a precarious planet. We are subject to macro forces of nature that can wipe us out at any time. Androids, meteors, super volcanoes etc. Apart from these potentially destructive forces humans are a major concern when it comes to agents of destruction.. Humans can wipe out the planet with nuclear war , biological agents or the consequences of over population. While we cant do much about natural forces we can certainly direct the human factor.

Our governments have killed millions upon millions people already. This is indisputable. The next step they might take is a nuclear war which will wipe out everyone and everything on earth. Our governments dont represent the will of its people (yet they claim to). Certainly most wars and human atrocities would have been avoided if the population had a say in the matter. There would probably be much fewer wars and holocaust like atrocities.

The key to all this is our collective ignorance about our right to self determination. Many countries have direct democracy statutes embedded within their constitutions at various levels of government.
If society could collectively elevate itself to understanding their inherent power they could veto the "leaders" and "representatives: that thrust us into unnecessary confict. Our governments are set up and condon the influence of money to sway policy. This is not democracy.

Tools at our disposal include referendums, ballot initiatives and e-petitions. We need to get in touch with our real constitutional powers. Direct democracy is the solution. This is the only way to avoid human catastophe.
