Self-Directed Learning Through Video Games
Gabriel Yanagihara definitely has a passion in video games and he wants to use it to lead students to self-directed learning.
He had used Minecraft since it was an extremely popular game.
Minecraft provides the exploration experience and kids learn to play the game on their own.
There is no guide book or instruction so kids are put in the game world to learn on their own.

He discovered that kids who master the game would often teach others how to do it and knowledge is being passed from one to another.
He shared about how he wanted to use their passion of video games of kids to academic subjects.
Video games can be used to inspire learning and exploration to lead kids into independent learning.
He taught students how to program their own videogames using scratch and many other tools.
When passion can be infused into learning, we can see how students can engage and learn independently especially their love for video games.
