Go, thy FAITH has made you well.
…18.Was no one found except this foreigner to return and give glory to God?”
19.Then Jesus said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well!” Luke 17: 19
Could Jesus see faith in us?
I still wonder at what level of faith that this leper may have developed that he got Jesus' attention. I hope that you know the story about the 10 lepers very well. The Bible has not explained to our understanding whether the other nine of ten lepers whom Jesus said that the should go and deep themselves got healed also.
However, considering the question that Jesus posed to the only one who returned to thank Him, it was obvious if I am not wrong that those people did not receive their healing as the other man did or they were perhaps ungrateful souls.
17.“Were not all ten cleansed?” Jesus asked. “Where then are the other nine?
Be that as it may, something still pushes me to believing that the were not healed like the one that the returned. Thus, they were ashamed of themselves to come back and meet Jesus the same way they left. What a faithless society. Truth is that these men had no faith. They certainly did not receive their healing just as it is showed in the verse below.
15.When one of them saw that he was healed, he came back, praising God in a loud voice.
One among ten noticed a change in him, he noticed that there was an abnormal thing happening to him. He noticed that something was beginning to change while others were looking for more. Take for instance, I'm just imagining that maybe the young man may have felt a healing in his hands ONLY but he was just too happy and could not wait for the whole body when he ran to meet with Jesus to break the news.
16.He fell face-down at Jesus’ feet in thanksgiving to Him— and he was a Samaritan.
I could also imagine the other nine remaining lepers wondering what may have got their friend so happy that he left them while they were still performing the rites. Now can you see what is happening in the society? Those nine lepers can be compared to a story about a cow whom despite of being released from the rope that it was tired to a tree, had to remain in that position because he assumed that the rope was still stocked to it's neck.
Similarly, as Christians, the devil sometimes makes us to see our pains, sickness, troubles, etc when Jesus sees healing, and peace. Its all about the state of the mind.
So at this juncture I'd like to ask again, have you any faith?
Thank you for your time.
