Hello friends, welcome to "I love to educate" is a blog created for educational purposes. To provide support to teachers, students and parents in the teaching-learning process, facilitating the completion of school activities.

Giraffes are the tallest land animals on the planet. Males reach a height of up to 5.5 meters, and females - 4.3 meters, when as puppies they can have a height of approximately 1.8 meters. Surprisingly, young giraffes literally grow by day and hour, up to 2.5 centimeters per day!

Just as a person has unique fingerprints, each giraffe has a unique color. Some representatives have a pattern in the wool in the form of oak leaves, others have square shapes, so it seems that a large net was thrown on the giraffe.

The spots on the skin of animals can have a different color: from very light to almost black, depending on what they eat and where they live. Some experts claim that giraffes need spots to dress up.

All giraffes have a pair of skin-coated horns. Male giraffes use them for fights with other males.

Like camels, giraffes can survive for a long time without water thanks to their diet, especially acacia leaves, which contain a lot of moisture.

When they really feel thirsty, they go to a nearby water trough and are forced to open or bend their legs to reach the water with their faces. At this point, giraffes are quite vulnerable to predators. To protect themselves, giraffes usually go to the watering place, not one at a time, so that family members watch over the danger and can warn in time.

  • The appearance of giraffes resembles something between a camel and a leopard. They have a small hump on the back and stained skin. Some people called the giraffe "camel-leopard", hence its name in Latin camelopardalis.

  • Giraffes are ruminants, like cows, and in their stomachs there are four cells that allow the leaves to digest properly.

  • "The foot of a giraffe is about 30 centimeters in diameter, the size of a plate."

  • The neck of a giraffe reaches a length of about 2 meters and weighs more than 250 kilograms.

  • Giraffes can only sleep 20 minutes a day, and generally no more than 5 minutes at a time, since they must be alert all the time to hide from enemies.

  • The back legs of the giraffe seem shorter, although they are almost the same length as the front, an average of 1.8 meters.

  • The heart of a giraffe weighs about 11 kilograms and has a diameter of about 0.6 meters.

  • For a long time it was believed that giraffes are silly, but in reality they produce sounds inaccessible to the human ear. They also know how to whistle, groan and growl.

  • In addition to humans, the only enemies of giraffes in nature are lions and crocodiles. Giraffes can defend themselves with fatal kicks if they are in serious danger.

  • Males need to smell or taste the female's urine to determine their preparation for mating.

  • Giraffes mate at any time of the year, after 14 months a newborn is born. Immediately after birth, the puppy falls to the ground from a height of approximately 1.8 meters. A stroke usually does not harm the baby, but it does breathe for the first time.

  • Giraffes have as many vertebrae in the spine as a human.

  • Giraffes can run quite fast, fleeing from enemies. The giraffe's record speed is 55 kilometers per hour.
