THE INNOCENT IMPOSTER [Open Comedy Mic Round 19]

Life has really taught me that integrity, trustworthiness and being transparent are virtues that cannot be bought with money.

Lola, one of our course mates back then in the university, was very exquisite that a couple of guys on campus wanted to be with her, as flies would always want to surround a cherry mangoe lying waste on the floor. I mean, any guy can lose his sanity at her comeliness.

This beautiful damsel, Lola, was very good at what she does-- creating a false impression about herself to others; trying to be what she wasn't. Apparently, she knew how to produce the sweetest of accent as each word find their way out of her mouth as if she had spoken English all her life.

Meanwhile, she (Lola) had spent all her childhood days in the village, before she was taken by one of her aunties from the village, to give her a good life in the city.

What a "packaging"!

One would naturally think that Lola would barely eat a meal without a fried or cooked chicken, due to the way and manner she bragged about herself all the time...

She went about posing and parading the campus as though she was a daughter of a Dangote or a Bill Gates, but those of us who knew who she truly was allowed the truth to remain with us until "show time". As a matter of fact, Lola was a very innocent pretender that almost everybody could hardly believe what happened to her...

But as they say, "There is nothing hidden that won't be exposed."

One day we were all in a class, waiting for the arrival of our lecturer, when we heard a shout from the other wing of the classroom as though someone has dropped dead, but only for us to discover that someone-- I mean, a female student has suddenly messed up the whole place with her vomit.

How I wished this student has vomited something good like rice and chicken, salads, or some really nice food it would have been a lot better.

Guess what? Lola had threw up garri (what some euphemistically call "Cassava Flakes") and groundnut.)

This was how we didn't see Lola for the next three weeks in school.
