Console.WriteLine("Hello Steem!"); //(Some things about me)
Hello Steem! Im very excited to be able to participate in this community. I'm a hobby programmer and I love seeing new advancements in technology (Hard- and Software wise) as much as I love gaming in general.
Programming
I began programming when I was 12 years old by watching some tutorial about C++ but it's obviously way to hard to beginn with C++. Back then I was playing games on the PlayStation Portable and I was so inspired by games in general that I wanted to know how the people of game studios make these games. So with a bag full of motivation I browsed the net to find some information on how to start programming for the PSP and everyone said "Learn C or C++". Of course I tried that... What a fool I was to beginn with C++. I was frustrated so I wanted to move on to a easier programming language. Good thing is that my idea of making things for the PSP was long gone because I lost interest in it already. Again I searched the net. Then there was this game engine called "Unity" with scripting support in UnityScript and C# that is supposed to be easy to learn, especially UnityScript. I began learning UnityScript (Javascript with additional features) by watching tutorials and just using Unity. At some point i realized that UnityScript is heavy on performance so i transitioned to C#. It was at that time where I slowly learned programming concepts and to think like a programmer.
And now here I am, about 8 years of programming and everyday I learn something new. Currently the programming languages (Ordered by date of learning) where I can code in are:
- UnityScript (Obsolete now. Don't even bother using it)
- C# (I like this language a lot)
- Html, CSS and Javascript (Did some cool stuff back then)
- Java (Learned this one in school. Tried making a game engine, stuck at matrices for camera transformation)
- C++ (Made some course in an App, learning it step by step and wrote some small programs. Not experienced enough to resolve circular dependencies so I gave up using it)
- PHP and MySQL (Wanted to make a backend for a multiplayer shooter game)
- Rust (Heard about this language and wanted to try it. Still inexperienced)
If you know Wallpaper Engine (available on Steam), then you might know that you can create your own wallpaper with web technologies. I created a simple wallpaper with PixiJS. Go check it out if you are interested. Just search for "Coolpaper" on the Workshop page of WallpaperEngine on Steam.
So the main content on this channel will be about programming, game development and gaming.
Some engines that I used (expect some posts about these in the future):
- Unity (Used it so much)
- UnrealEngine (Done pretty cool stuff with it)
I made a small Graph editor for creating procedural Textures. Here, have some images
Also here are some screenshots of my Minecraft clone made in unity. Multithreading included :)
Graphics
When developing games you also need some assets to go by with the game. Would be a pretty boring game without graphics. Although my skills are not the greatest, I still try to make some assets for my games.
Here is the view of a Prototype HUD I created for a game where you catch monsters and battle with them. (Only Icons on right side are from the game-icons.net)
Gaming
Another hobby of mine is gaming. I admire the art of games and their technology. Games keep up my motivation to code stuff myself.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading this introduction post about myself. I hope you are interested in the content im making. Expect some posts about gaming, programming and game development on this blog. Bye and have a great time!
