October 21, 19: Walking, More Learning JavaScript, and Teaching Trigonometry
I spent the morning learning more JavaScript. I’m almost through the entire playlist now and am starting to get a bit frustrated with myself that I haven’t started actually trying things out. I guess I’m still in the trying to figure out the best way to do what I want to do before I invest too much time going down a rabbit hole and then discovering that there was a better way to do it to begin with.
I still haven’t come up with a way to detect whether an area on a canvas is closed. It can’t be that hard, but I’m just not sure (and it’s kinda’ crucial to the game). I think that’s one of the main things holding me up.
Tomorrow I really need to get going creating something homework assignments for my classes (which I’ve been putting off really bad). But soon, maybe the day after, I’m going to sit down and try to code something.
Still, can’t let a day go by without going out for some exercise as long as I can help it! What a change that is!!! Anyway, I meant to go for a loop around the block and then walk up to the grocery store, but it started to proper rain, so I wussed out, called it good, and drove instead.
Not terribly cold today, but I wouldn’t call it my favorite either. 😨 🌧
I was captured by the bad guy last mission, and so this time he had me on a treadmill, experimenting on me at gunpoint. How, then, I managed to evade two zombies and collect a toolbox, a mobile phone, and an axe is beyond me. I guess game mechanics are game mechanics...no rule says they need to be consistent with the storyline. 🤔🤓😛
The fall colors are really starting to show. As much as I dislike what they portend, they are kinda’ neat.
In the evening I went and taught Trigonometry. We covered a real world application of the Law of Cosines we derived last class and then used the product to sum formulas from the class before to derive the sum to product formulas (sort of factoring for trig functions).
