Painting in Progress - My Sea Scene
With more time on my hands because of HF20, I resurrected my sea scene painting. It was great to get my paint brushes out again.
Here is a quick recap of the process so far:
- It all started in my sketchbook. I based my sketch on two photos I took on holiday. I combined the bay from one of them and the rocks from the other.
- I prepared my canvas with earthy tones to improve the colour density of the finished painting. I also painted in guidelines in pink.
- I blocked in colours roughly so I could see the paintings taking shape.
- Now comes the hardest part. I start to paint the details.
- This is where I'm at. Looks a mess now but I have high hopes that all will be well.
I am using acrylic paint on acrylic paper as I can't afford oils. I only have the primary colours, black and white and a few others. I find that's enough. I like mixing the shades myself.
I have a variety of small brushes and I have a wet palette so my paint stays fresh.
Do you create any artwork? I'd love to see it if you do:)
