One Picture One Story Week #59
Old School Sunday Celebration
Going down my memory lane and scrolling through my phone while contemplating on what I could possibly write about in this contest, I stumbled on this picture and remembered our old school Sunday service.
It was a beautiful Sunday morning in the month of July and this was our first ever Old School youth Sunday with the theme aiming for perfection at Zion Super Mega Parish 2 lanes.
This was literally a dream come true because it was originally speculated that this idea might not be accepted by the Church Administrator.
The youths were dressed in their old school costumes looking both beautiful and hilarious, taking our fathers and mothers back to their days.
The youth service began with a session of simple praise and worship where only old worship and praise were sang. It continued with singing traditional soul lifting hymns that reminded one of childhood days e.g. Praise my soul, the king of heaven, Amazing grace etc. This session confirmed the fact that God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
The service also had a talk show where testimonies were shared about aiming for perfection, telling us stories about God’s faithfulness, as experienced through the ages, helping us to learn even as we grow.
It was all joyful even as we heard the sermon taking us through foundational truths, teaching us about practical ways to live an honest life pleasing both God and man and upholding the faith, whether one is "old school" or "New school".
After the service, we took a series of pictures and made lots of videos with lots of smiles to remember and recount that beautiful Old School service.
