Apple, Facebook, and Google Going Through Changes -- What Does it Mean for Steemit?
Newbie life continues to be interesting on Steemit; it makes me hear the news a different way...
Apple is letting iTunes go in favor of three new apps that nobody really understands yet. Quite an announcement. All these years, users have been putting their collections on iTunes and musicians have been using iTunes for distribution, but iTunes is at least going to be deprecated and probably quietly shut down after awhile. I think about this from a musician's perspective -- where will musicians who rely on access to iTunes for distribution go? There will be some confusion and frustration... might this be a moment for the musician's community on Steemit to reach out?
Facebook and Google are each the subject of federal antitrust investigations, as of today. As I heard this on ABC news, the FTC is going after Facebook, and the Justice Department after Google. Both of their stocks are down already. I don't think users are really going to be affected yet, but as further unpleasant revelations come out about how the search and social media giants behave toward their users, might this be an opportunity for Steemians to reach other and invite people to a better alternative (eh, @carlgnash, per our earlier comment conversation?) here on Steemit?
Apple, Facebook, and Google -- all at once about to go through major disruptions as the shock waves from today's news ripple on out to the wider world. I'm just a newbie here on Steemit. But I know opportunity when I see it.
