[ENG] School at home: making a fabric face mask - by @dearw & @chamerada || [ESP] Escuela en casa: Haciendo un tapabocas - por @dearw y @chamerada
Hi there!
This time @chamerada had the task of making a face mask with my help. In this post we're going to share with you our experience and also some pictures about the process of making this mask.
ABOUT WHAT WE NEEDED TO MAKE IT
- The fabric: We decide to use surgical cloth to make it.
- A plate or something with a circular shape to make the pattern
- White thread
- Needle
- Pins
- Scissor
- This tutorial: I loved this one because is very simple, is easy to follow the steps and also has a really cool background song.
ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE
- Surgical cloth: the layers are thin and this makes difficult to sew them. However, I had a gown available and I also thought it might offer a little more protection than the other fabrics I had.
- For me pins were necessary to keep each layer in place, if you're good at these things maybe you won't need them but that's not my case. Lol.
- Drawing a line for side openings also seems to me to be necesary. I get distracted very easily so a visual guide helps me to keep focused in how much I need to sew. This marks can be done with a pencil.
ABOUT THE PICTURES
All the photos were taken by me with a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. This time I used three apps for editing and creating my visual resources for this post.
- Snapseed: with this app I fixed the exposure, contrast and I added extra sharpening.
- Xiaomi Editing software: this is the phone's editor, here I made the pictures look like doodles and also added some stickers.
- PicsArt: Here I cuted the original background and replaced it with a colorful background from the app that also helped me to design the dividers.

¡Hola!
