Color Challenge : Tuesday Orange - to black

The great thing about having a project is seeing the results. Sometimes the results are not as expected and sometimes those unexpected results are much better than expected. For my tomato plants this year, I basically just did the equivalent of throwing a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what stuck. I was given a Foodie Garden, which had three varieties in it and I found two pack of seeds that I had apparently bought a year ago. I really didn't have any concrete plans on where I was going to plant them. At first, I didn't know how many plants I would have, but it seems like every seed I planted actually sprouted.

Lesson learned for next year.

When I finally got around to planting them, I put three in the front garden, three in the side garden and the rest in the Grilling Deck grow bags. The front garden are doing the best, but it does seem that cherry tomatoes are find for the grow bags.

Ideas for next year.

Next year the big tomatoes go only in the front garden and in a less haphazard method and the Grilling Deck will hopefully have a better setup with the growbags to help the plants thrive.

This morning, what I think are Black Krim, are turning to their darker color. I haven't really dealt with these types of tomatoes, but it would seem like they are ready now. But, there is a slight bit of green on the top, to orange to the red. From what I can tell, the red should keep getting darker until it is black looking and that's when they are ready. I can't wait to try one and see if they live up to the hype.

My Roma tomatoes, also from the Foodie Garden, are also a nice orange today as well. I hope to pick a few of those by the weekend.
