So You Want To Sell On eBay? It's Super Easy, Fun And Yes You Can Make A Lot of Money

in #entrepreneur7 years ago (edited)

I began selling on eBay many moons ago, I was one of the first out of all my friends. The first item I ever sold was a Ms Pac Man tabletop electronic game by Coleco. I bought it at a yard sale for $10.00 and it sold on eBay for around $120. Needless to say, I was hooked.

I was actually buying electronic truckloads at the time and selling most of my stuff at outdoor sales and flea markets. I was really looking for a new platform to sell my goods. A friend told me about eBay, said it was pretty cool and people are doing well. I joined a few days later. I sold a ton of electronics on eBay over the years, had a feedback rating of about 5700, was also a power seller and then the market for electronics crashed. Digital camera's that were selling for $1000 now we're going for $150, my margins shrunk. Some money was still on the table but I was looking for a change. So I went to a few yard sales in Florida and I bought a bunch of collectibles and some Nascar stuff. I took pictures and posted them on eBay and made a hefty profit. I knew I was on to something. I started to buy collectible books, study market trends on eBay and began learning and trying to predict the next hot trend or market. I was drawn to vintage and MCM items and surprisingly those markets are even hotter today. I guess you can say everything recycles and today MCM and 70's are super hot. Here are a few items I have sold and made some huge profits.

Vintage Pair Mid Century Modern Retro Atomic Eames Era Lamps Fiberglass Shades With Swirls. Paid $25.00 sold for $250

If you love to hit yard sales and estate sales then you can really make some great extra money. It's super easy to make an extra $1000 a month doing eBay. Sometimes I would spend $100 and make over a $1000. The key is not to make mistakes that can cost you money. The great thing you have now, which I didn't is a cell phone with internet. So you are at a thrift store and find a vintage West German large pottery vase with cool colours. Well, the price is $10. You jump on your phone, go to eBay completed, sold items and type in West German Vase and see what the average selling price is and then you know roughly what you will make profit wise. Way easier than the way I use to do it. The biggest thing to learn is what sells and what doesn't. Start with small items as they are easy to ship. You can also look for vintage rock t-shirts or vintage Levi jeans as these are both super hot right now. I am willing to help answer any questions you may have. I will help in any way I can. Please follow my blog and upvote me. I will post more eBay tips and cheat sheets so everyone can make some extra cash. I can also explain how to go full time if you desire that as well. Remember buy low and sell high. Good luck to everyone. :)

My most profitable selling item so far online, Antique Tomahawk pipe with provenance. This Tomahawk belonged to Oskenonton (a Mohawk) and was given to Will Reid by Eagle Eye ( Jack Carson a mixed-blood Cherokee Indian who travelled the USA in a shooting and knife act. Providence card included. Tomahawk Axe/pipe is in excellent condition and ready to display. A wonderful piece for a museum or collection. Paid $250 from dealer and sold online for $2000
