Steem is a fascinating beast. Born of both blockchain and necessity. I some times wonder what worlds are being summoned into existence through the blockchain. I see two worlds fanning out before us, both of free market and of absolute record. Freedom closer to authority. Its as if we are creating fair robots to rule over us. You are buying and selling the ideas of freedom and servitude when you invest in it.
Blockchain is crazy cool. Contracts, deeds, escrow, date stamp, you name it and blockchain technologies are automating it. Trust is the primary product the blockchain sells best. Massive amounts of products and services that used to be the realm of governments and institutions alone can now be trusted and in the hands of individuals. Filling a roll more efficiently and less costly sounds like added value to me. It has many ancillary benefits make commerce easier. Things historically very expensive are now the price of a digital ledger. This adds massive value to blockchain technologies like Bitcoin and ethereum. The value melts the power away from large state actors like the robot GORT melts the guns out of the hands of soldiers.
This is the world we already live in. Friendships, fond memories, mistakes, and misunderstandings are recorded for all time. Mashed together in ways personally inescapable and impossible to forget. Those words we said to a ex lover, a threat, a drunk rant, a poorly worded joke, a heartfelt and final call for help... are all traceable and transparent snapshots of our lives will and are be used by employers, corporations, and governments alike to wield ideological and punitive power over us. If its useful someone will use it. The Genie is out of the bottle, there is no off switch, it happening anyway, there are no magic words, no klaatu barada nikto. This is the direction the world has been heading in from the moment we captured fire. Whether or not we should fear this is anyone's guess. What you do with this world is really the major question.
What can I do?
If something is free you are the product.
It is probably not news around the Steemit community. Corporations like Google, Twitter, and Facebook are literally selling you. You have to decide to either let them use you as a resource or Invest in good ideas. Invest invest in truth. Invest in crypto. Invest in yourself. Divest from things that do not add value to your life. Things like Facebook exploit your interests, friends, and family connections to suck up marketing and surveillance data. You can't take back your data, every spelling error is there for all time. So choose wisely.
Investment opportunities are seriously the best they have ever been in your life. Imagine being at the ground floor of apple and investing into it. That is where we are, it is here and it's really happening. You do not have to buy a full bitcoin to get in. You just have to navigate the river of options to find whats right for you. Like all things in life its a gamble but its been working so far.

To invest in steem you just have to show up. The value of Steem is rising as it fills the need for open discussion. I posted a small story about how I got into Bitcoin and Steemit gave me money, I post it on Facebook and they harvest anything they can from it.
