Something mildly interesting: heavily miscut Pokemon cards!

Well, this is a bit different from my usual Pokemon content. This time around we aren't going to be opening up any packs or doing anything with reviewing one of the older Pokemon games. Instead we're going to take a look at some weird cards I got out of a Sun and Moon pack of Pokemon cards. Why are they weird you ask? Well, they're extremely miscut which usually doesn't happen. I thought I might as well make a post out of these since they're pretty strange and I thought maybe some of you would think it was interesting to see. You see, miscut cards are fairly common to a certain extent. If you've purchased quite a few packs of cards, there's a chance you probably have some cards that have miscut corners, as they're common enough to find out of a couple dozen packs. 

These cards however are a bit different as you can probably tell from the picture down below. These two common cards have been so heavily miscut that the bottom portion is chopped off and instead has been placed on the top of the card. At first I didn't notice this when I was going through the pack of cards, and only actually saw that something was up when I was going through them for a second time. Card often times come off miscentered which isn't really a big deal, however occasionally you find cards that are true miscuts such as these two which is something certain collectors are really into. 

Sadly, however, these two really aren't worth much since they're just common cards from one of the newer sets. Had I perhaps found 2 cards that were holographics or EX's/GX's from several years ago then maybe they'd actually go for a hefty amount to the right buyer. But, that's not a big deal at all and nor is it why I'm writing this post. I really just thought these were pretty nifty and would be fun to show off, and maybe they'd actually show what a genuine miscut card should look like to someone who interested in collecting odd/miscut cards. I've known several people who were interested in these types of cards, but were very meticulous with what they would actually buy. 

Several cards come out with square edges which gives a chance at being fraudulent, as some people get a hold of the Pokemon card sheets and then take them to be cut by a professional baseball card company for example. There's also plenty of other types of miscut cards that you can try and pick up, but you always want to have a keen eye on them to make sure they're the real deal and not just something that was off center slightly while being cut as that doesn't add any value to them. Some cards are just plain wacky with how they come out, as I've seen a Charizard card that had the barcode/color code section from the sheet still attached to the card which ate up about 1/5th of the top of it. 

So, what do you do if you run across cards like mine? Well, I would throw them in a sleeve and keep them for my collection personally. However, you could also throw them up on ebay or look around for collectors and see if they'd be interested in buying. Something interesting I found out about miscut cards that are extremely miscut like mine is that PSA often times won't grade them for you if the set number isn't in its proper place. While I understand to an extent why they do this, I believe they should open it up a bit more for interpretation as it's obvious that occasionally we get funky cards straight from the Pokemon card company themselves. 

Anyways, I just thought this would be something fun/mildly interesting to look at and read about. I think I'm going to try and research more into these types of cards and learn a bit more about them since I'm always trying to expand my collection. Besides the basic info I've mentioned in this article thus far I know that these sorts of cards were really easily found in certain sets such as Legendary Treasures and a few other older sets. For the most part though, the modern sets rarely produce cards like this so I think they're a pretty neat little thing to have to show off to any other collectors. Maybe I'm just a nerdy bastard though, and none of you have found this particularly interesting. But, too bad.
