Hello, good day to everyone on this community am really happy to be here with you all and I hope that you are enjoying the best of your day.

On today's contest which is organised by our follow steemian @abdullahw2 which we will be participating on a topic namely independence day on my countryand this something that most of us has been taught when we were in school.

So I will be so excited to drop my entry and I will also read from others people participation too.

What is the date of Independence Day in your country and from whom your country took independence?

Am from Nigeria and i have learn a lot about how my country got their independence from Britain colonial which is actually United Kingdom and a lot of history has been written about.

Being independent actually means being free from others rules and regulations, being free to do things on your own self.

So in general Nigeria got their Independence on 1st October 1960 which the gain that from United Kingdom. That day marks the end of all British colonial rule and it was also the beginning of self-governance for Nigeria till now.

Who is a prominent national figure associated with your country's independence, and why are they important?

History has it all that one of the prominent national figure that play a lot roles and fight for Nigeria's independence is Nnamdi Azikiwe. I have come to know that he is commonly known in Nigeria as the "Father of Nigerian Independence."

Through the participating in various nationalist movements whereby he fought for independence, looking for the freedom of Nigerians Nnamdi Benjamin Azikiwe went further in supporting independence since he was a key political leader, journalist, and statesman, so he use his journalism and political skills to get in touch with people and allowing Nigerians to govern themselves as he fought for their rights and freedom. Azikiwe played a crucial role in the struggle for Nigeria's independence from British colonial rule by which he led and supported the ideals of independence with his leadership, passion and vision for independence so he remains one Nigeria’s revered heroes in the history of Nigeria.

He is also the first President of Nigeria from 1963 to 1966.

Do the people of your country perform any special activities on your country's independence day? Tell us about them.

Yes in Nigeria, we celebrate the country’s Independence Day because it means a lot to us. The celebration comes through various activities and events such as; raising of Nigerian flag, traditional dance, parades, cultural shows, fire works displays and many important events to show how important that day means to us. On that many government officials and Nigerians citizens give speeches about how important and memorial that day stand for, and our green and white which is our colour are been worn by many Nigerians to celebrate our day of independence.

Also, children from all schools, businesses and any forms of organizations also celebrate the day by arranging their events in order to display the Nigerian culture, tradition and achievements. As such, Nigeria Independence Day remains a day that is so special and of great pride to all the people of Nigeria
A DAY OF OUR FREEDOM

Why do you think independence is compulsory for a nation or country?

They are a lot of reasons why I think it important for a country or a nation to have their Independence, because when a country have their independence it brings self determination to the country which allows them to determine their own way of lifestyle in terms of economic, social system and others. Also a nation having their independent give them the ability to govern themselves without any external interference.

A country having their Independence help them to preserve and promote their unique language, culture, tradition which this can be as a disaster if down when they are being colonial.

All countries must have their Independence

This is way I will stop for today, thank you so much for your support towards my post looking forward to see you on my next content.
