This is the state of our air conditioning unit just a few hours ago after 2 days with no air. Luckily it was just the downstairs unit and our bedrooms are upstairs. It isn't the end of the world but also not the most fun thing to happen in July. ☀️ It all started with a text from my wife:

We tried the various things of checking the fuses, turning it off and on even waiting a few hours to no luck. I have learned to leave most problems like this to the pros once I have done the simple troubleshooting so we made the call. Turns out we needed to replace a number of parts on the unit to get it up and running again.

$855 (Ouch!) later we are back in business and feeling the cold air! We have a good amount of savings and that does help in times like this but my mind kept going to to the idea that over the last month I have earned enough in STEEM to cover this if needed. It is fun to know that this is covered even though I have no plans to take it out. In fact, I am looking at buying more STEEM.

Life is always full of surprises even if sometimes those surprises take $885 from your bank account! 😳

Damn that sucks. My AC wasn't working during the start of summer and they charged $115 for just opening it up and doing something inside it. AC repair is too damn expensive.

Yeah. It can be costly but that is the case with most speciality skilled labor. If you can do it, you can charge it! 😎

Sorry bro. I hope tomorrow is better haha. Keep your head up.

Thanks! As long as I don't have to spend $856 on something that previously worked then I will feel ahead of the game!

I've had to do that also. It's interesting how things we could plan for... we don't. For example, in the same day my car battery died ($112) and the spring on my garage door broke ($250). Both of these things were well passed due, if I had been thinking about them. We've had the car a long time and never replaced the battery. Just took one time with the kids leaving a light on to kill it. A jump worked for day, but the thing was done. The spring could have lasted longer if I lubricated it, but I didn't know anything about that. Now Alexa will remind me in six months to lube it up. :)

Hurray for that good old emergency fund, eh? :)

I hear ya! I did learn a thing or two in my previous life. :)
