QUEENSLAND FLOODS AND SUNSHINE a painting by David and Mizuki Emanuel to respond to the disaster of flooding and loss of life due to the Q'ld cyclones in 2011. I was deeply saddened by the loss of homes and life during the cyclone, and I decided to paint the experience of the flooding, cyclone and subsequent sunshine before the flooding and cyclone came back at higher levels.

This painting is a partnership between 2 artist who wanted to share the experience of doing something together to help the situation. We originally sold a few prints to help raise money for the people suffering. Later we hoped to sell the painting and pass on the proceeds, we got into discussion with the QLD art gallery for them to buy it, but due to change of management this fell through.

This painting is a visual abstract showing the 10 days we spent in Queensland at the beginning of 2011. It is acrylic on Canvas, and is 140cm by 80 cm.
