I think it's interesting how the tribalism dominates these observations (I am NOT saying Pakman is doing this). When the Dems are in power, the GOP complains that the Dems are coddling tyrants. When the GOP is in power, the Dems do likewise.
Trump is a narcissist. What Kim does to others does not concern him. What Kim does to Trump is all that matters to Trump.
Trump got his PR triumph. That's all he cares about. The security interests of the United States are secondary to Trump, and so he can give Kim what he wants, while still getting what he wants (PR).
