I wonder how many in the US still have faith in people who already did horrible wrong on purpose that resulted in war crimes on large scale the least of was the killing of up to a million Iraqi, the displacement of over 3 million of them inside and outside their country and later set the stage for the emergence of Al-Qaeda and its different affiliates the most infamous was ISIS, yet, here's the same guy again instead of facing trial for his crimes he's appointed in a more advanced post and again promoting new crimes like the first time. Maybe the people of the US are pro war crimes after all.
As for Trump what he did with Bolton there are two theories: He brought him to avoid the pressure from the neocons then got rid of their pressure completely by proving the failure of Bolton, keep in mind that the US avoided a second large war and much bigger in scale and much costly than Iraq in multiple times not because Trump is wise, it's because the enemies he created for the US are wise.
The other theory is that he did trust in the ability of Bolton and is in favor of being called the best US president for Israel even on the account of the US itself and its people, and then clashed with him for his failures. He did miss on the Iranian capabilities, the Yemeni capabilities, and Hezb Allah capabilities. Not to even come close to relations with Russia and China.
@davidpakman, I don't know what the reason is, but this scenario is reflecting one thing and that is, may be lot of Internal Conflicts are going on.
