in #news8 years ago

The air-conditioning and refrigerating company Carrier announces it will lay off 215 employees, adding to the 300 jobs lost in July, despite President Trump taking credit for assuring its plant in Indianapolis, Indiana stayed open. Weird, right?

How do you explain the 5% GDP growth in Q4 2017? Its b/c Trump tax reform. Corporations need to be successful in order for the entire country to be wealthy. Excessive taxes and regulations only hurt poor and help elite rich.

my understanding of time is that it moves forward. how would a tax plan passed in the last few days of Q4 account for economic activity in october, november and december of 2017?

Market speculation. Markets always advance in front of any known news. Wallstreet was is playing the odds (which were at least 90%) that tax reform would pass. Its same as Cryptos. Few people are using Crypto today but the market is "pricing in" the future odds that it will be used and adopted heavily. This is just the way the markets work. Everyone is trying to get in front of the other guys move to maximize profits. Its the ways it been and always will be. In the process the infrastructure of a new economy gets laid.

Also, raising expectations of future economic growth creates (today) stronger economic activity in advance. Its a confidence boost on business which is the only thing that fundamentally drives economic value. Its just trade after all when someone mentions economy.

The Trump administration has cut -- or has proposed cutting -- the following programs to pay for their tax cuts to Wall Street. Doing so directly punishes the poor, elderly, sick, and vulnerable:

  • Medicaid
  • Childrens Health Insurance Program
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
  • Food Assistance Programs
  • Pell Grants
  • Student Loan Subsidies

I can accept the argument that the only real way to stimulate the economy is by giving massive tax breaks to JP Morgan and Apple, coupled with huge military spending increases. But let’s not pretend this won’t be at the direct expense of our most vulnerable population sectors. It’s great that the stock market is doing well (my portfolio certainly loves it) but that’s hardly a definitive barometer of a healthy economy, let alone the republic as a whole.

You understand though that many corporations both large and small will go to the lowest tax countries? You can't have big Government and low taxes. If you want a strong economy you need low taxes or no taxes on business and that includes small businesses. Health Insurance is something that everyone can agree that needs to be fixed but the Democrats are blocking it. A single payer is not the answer either. The only way to do it right is to allow small private health care companies into the market to drive down cost but laws like not allowing to buy across state lines hurt everyone and drive up cost, lowering competition.

pardon me to say trump is hypocritical. ..i cannot say he does things for money..because he is already wealthy.but what is clear is that,he doesn't take decisions that is best for the people.he only does what he likes..he is a president and a leader. leaders must have in heart the best interst of his people...its really weird why he keeps doing things that is questionable...other country looks up to the united state, technically, other presidents lookup to him too...its really not cool
