This is a review about Ensom by Kalandra
There are two versions of this song, the first studio version of the song was one that is heavier than the acoustic version with guitar distortion and a rock drum set. from the elements I hear in their music, I wouldn't say this is just a pop song, I can hear elements from Rock, Metal, Electronic Music, Ambient music with a beautiful vocal that sings in a traditional way. it makes this band more special. though they are known as an alternative Nordic pop band, we can hear many different genres in their albums.
First version of the song which it was recorded in the studio:
Acoustic version of the song which was recorded later:
In both versions, Acoustic and Electric Guitar was used, in the acoustic version, they also bring strings (Violins, Cellos, and Acoustic Bass) and a traditional instrument which is like a flute. a small set of drums were used too, mostly he plays Tama and kicks, in the acoustic version they also used piano. the acoustic version starts soft and slowly grows and becomes heavier but the first version which was recorded in the studio starts with drums and electric guitars though it also keeps growing it has a louder starting point, the ambient sounds used in the studio versions are also amazing and it sounds so huge in the mix, the guitars effects and also the synth pads together. the drum's performance in the studio version is really amazing and I love how it sounds, the fills are awesome. The lead guitars and vocals in the high climax of the song flow together perfectly, and the back vocals and the mix suddenly send the vox to distortion and brings it back to the normal sound with a filter, It is awesome. and after a huge section with many layers, it drops to an acoustic guitar piece and ends that way. but the acoustic version ends with piano and also the vocalist keeps singing at the end of the song.
I hope you enjoyed reading and listening to these songs.
