Some Thoughts For Today 4.12.2020
Today is the resurrection day of Jesus. This is when Jesus appeared to many after he died and spent 3 days and nights in hell, to then resurrect from his death. As it is written, with Jesus speaking, For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Matthew 12:40.
It was foretold in the scriptures, but to them that did not believe Jesus, it was hidden. As it is written, And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. Mark 8:31.
After his resurrection Jesus showed himself to Peter and then of the twelve then to 500 at the same time, as it is written, And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians 15:5-6.
I was thinking about how in the Old Testament how Abraham and Isaac were on there way to do a sacrifice unto the Lord. Isaac asked where is the sacrifice that we are to use? As it is written, And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. Genesis 22:8.
You see Abraham was to sacrifice Isaac unto God, as God wanted to test Abraham, but when Abraham was to do such a thing did God intervene. As it is written, And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only from me. Genesis 22:12.
So some did not see the coming of Jesus in the Old Testament, but it is there, but hidden. As it is written, But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which is done away in Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:14.
It is Christ that opens up the scriptures to us. That makes me remember the two on there way to Emmaus and Jesus appeared to them, but they did not know it was him. On the way Jesus opened up the scriptures to them. Then when the two reached their destination, Jesus looked as he would continue onward.
They persuaded Jesus to stay with them and as they were about to eat, Jesus broke bread and they recognized Jesus, then Jesus disappeared. After he disappeared, they said one to another, as it is written, And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? Luke 24:32.
So it is Jesus that will open to us the scriptures. Praise the Lord! Jesus is the Lord!
If you do not know Jesus, you can repent, accept Jesus and do the will of the Father. Study the words of Jesus first, then all of the scriptures.
Let's end with a scripture, with Jesus speaking, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35.
