I took this picture of my mint a few days ago. It seems to be growing pretty good. Actually I think they grow like weeds. In my garden I found them just growing with my tomato plants some years ago.

I have lived in my house almost 30 years now and I think one of the other owners of my house before I bought it had mint plants. They seem to really come out in the spring.

So for this plant that I have now I just took cuttings of those plants and put them in potting soil and they look like they are outgrowing its container.

I was thinking of cutting some off and putting mint leaves in some chicken soup I plan on making today. This way I can cut down the plant and use it at the same time.

Yes, mint can be added to sweets and to savory dishes.

So what are the benefits of mint?

Well, it is rich in vitamin A and vitamin C. So one might want to make a cup of mint tea for the immune system. So if one has a cold, one might want to drink a hot cup of mint tea to recover faster, plus the smell of mint from the tea could help open the sinuses.

My brother gave me some money so I could order some peppermint essential oil for his asthma. He likes to put some drops on his palms and breathe it in through his nose.

My brother didn't know of peppermint until just recently. My mom gave him some peppermint oil went he had a hard time breathing. He really likes it and it seems to work better than some of his asthma medicine.

I did look up peppermint oil to benefit the lungs and open up the bronchial passages. It would be a beneficial essential oil to have if you have asthma.

When I used to work for the telephone company, to help me stay mentally alert I would bring some peppermint oil with me to work and drop a few drops on a napkin and bring it to my nose and breathe it in. Then I would put that napkin in a plastic zip bag to use later on.

A nice hot cup of mint tea will also help you to stay mentally alert.

So my mint plant is thriving from its garden container. I will have to use it more in my cooking and tea.

Let's end with a scripture, For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6.
