It Happened In The Morning
It happened in the morning 15 years ago. This time 15 years ago my sister passed away. I almost forgot, but my brother reminded me today.
He brought up memories of what happened 15 years ago. Of course it is always sad to lose a family member. My sister had been fighting cancer and going through its treatment for years, but that day she passed away.
I was at work, cause I had to go back to work, but I took a lot of days off before to spend time with my sister, I just had to go to work. I was on my first break when my little sister called me to let me know that she just passed away.
I had a hard time telling the incharge at work what happened. I guess I just had that disturbed look on my face and she told me to spit it out as I was just staring at her. So I forced it out of myself and told her my sister just died. That is when the tears came.
One good thing about the telephone company is that I got so many days off for a death in the family. So the incharge took me off of the board and wanted a manager to talk to me, I guess to ask me what I wanted to do.
I would always be saving my vacation and not taking it even when they wanted me to take it. Well, I told the manager that I wanted to take all my vacation at that time, along with those I think 5 days of family death leave.
So many things to do when there is a death in the family. I went to my parents house as my youngest sister told me to stop by at my parents home to bring my brother to my sister's house, the one the passed away.
You see my sister passed away in her own bed. Her body was still there as I brought my brother to her room. My brother just wrote a song for her and wanted to play it for her while she was still alive.
I was the one that had to tell my brother as I came to pick him up. He was just finishing the recording of that song on a cassette. I knew better than to speak until he finished his song.
Then I told him that our sister passed away. My brother said, I wanted to play the song I just wrote for her before she passed away. I told him to bring the cassette and we will play his song for our sister.
Yes as our sister's body that just passed away was still lying on the bed, I put his cassette into her tape player and played it. There were other people in the house and we were the ones that just came in. They let us alone with our sister and as the music played, people started to come into the room.
In my opinion my brother wrote the most beautiful song for our sister. The song and the way he played his guitar and the way that he sang caused tears to flow from my eyes. Others were tearing up too. Actually I think it was one of my brother's greatest musical works, that song that he wrote for our sister that passed away.
We don't know when our time is up. My sister's time was 15 years ago. Now is the time to seek God, now is the time to repent, to accept Jesus and to do the will of the Father.
Let's end with some scripture, as it is written, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
