What's Going on With Apollo Crews?

I want to start this off by saying I am a fan of Apollo Crews. This is why I feel as though the current direction with him is....baffling for pure lack of a better word. At the Elimination Chamber PPV, Crews teamed with Kalisto to go against Dolph Ziggler in which they emerged victorious. Post match though, Ziggler would proceed to assault Crews which included two steel chairs around the same ankle. You can see the assault here. What happened after though was absolutely baffling to me. Fans in attendance proceeded to chant "Thank you Ziggler!" This isn't exactly what you want to happen since Ziggler is well....a HEEL.

Now, you would think something such as this would have removed Crews from action for a considerable time, right? Well, you would be wrong as just two days later Crews was put into a 10 Man Battle Royal to determine Bray Wyatt's WrestleMania opponent. Apollo and Kalisto both came out to the ring as if nothing had happened.

Now at the end of Elimination Chamber I would have thought WWE was taking some time to redevelop Crews....and alas, I was wrong. I was hoping this was the case for Crews as well, so I was even more disappointed. While Crews is perfectly suited for the independent circuit: he has the talent and the look, but there is one glaring problem that keeps him from succeeding in WWE: he has no personality.

What to do?

We are coming up on WrestleMania season fast and of course not everyone should get a spot on the card, but I was hoping that Apollo would not have been one to get lost in the shuffle. It is pretty safe to say that WWE dropped the ball in the calling up of Crews, as they have with a lot of people as there does not really seem to be much of a long term plan with these Superstars.

What I think WWE should do is (quietly) take Crews off of TV and get someone to work with him. When you bring him back, give him the chance to shine, not just in the ring but on the mic.

How I would do it:

Night after a big PPV, have a now heel Dean Ambrose issue an open challenge. Out comes Crews with a new character, new music (though I think it's incredibly catchy and I really like it) and have a hard hitting match that leads to Crews winning the Intercontinental Championship.
