Mum's Birthday

May be a birthday is not a reason to celebrate, specially when it reminds you that your parents are getting old. This time the condition was more serious, because not it is not “forty” something anymore, but “fifty” something. Though I felt the same pain, even more than earlier when mum’s birthday was coming closer, I wanted to have a little celebration just to make her happy on her special day.

Usually, we don’t have big celebrations at our place. We, the members of our family get together and have some quality time. This time also, we did the same thing. The birthday was on a Friday. I have decided to have a leave on that Friday since a long time. So, I came home at Thursday night. I didn’t tell mum that I was coming. I only informed dad. When I came home, mum was surprised. I understood how happy she was when I heard her telling her elder sister how I came home and surprised me.

We bought her some gifts as we always do. Even the youngest one in the family gifts something to others in the birthdays in our family though the gift can be a very little one.

Many of my family had fever on the day. So we had to change our plans. Therefore, we didn’t make cake and other stuff at home. We bought them. I make some tortillas only. We had a really good time celebrating mum’s birthday. She was so happy. So, we were.
